Πρόκειται στην ουσία για μεταφορά της αυτοβιογραφίας του Ιρλανδού συγγραφέα και καλλιτέχνη Christy Brown, ο οποίος υπέφερε από μια εγκεφαλική παράλυση που του επέτρεπε να κινεί μοναχά το αριστερό του πόδι. Με το μοναδικό αυτό μέλος που έλεγχε πλήρως, κατάφερε να κάνει ιδιαίτερα και σπουδαία πράγματα!
Η ταινία πραγματεύεται τη σύντομη ζωή του, μεταφέροντας με απίστευτη πειστικότητα τις καθημερινές δυσκολίες, τον αφιλόξενο κοινωνικό περίγυρο, την ελπίδα-πίστη της μάνας, τη δύναμη της αγάπης, τη δραματικότητα εν τέλει, του να βρίσκεται ένα λαμπρό μυαλό φυλακισμένο σ'ένα αρρωστημένο σώμα.
