Το Spaceballs είναι παρωδία (spoof movie) των ταινιών επιστημονικής φαντασίας, συγκεκριμένα των Starwars, Planet of The Apes και της σειράς Star Trek. Με λίγα λόγια ο Πρόεδρος των Space Βalls ή emperor αν σας θυμίζει κάτι (Mel Brooks), διατάζει τον πρώτο κακό από όλους τους κακούς, Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis) να απαγάγει την πριγκίπισσα Vespa (Daphne Zuniga), ώστε να εκβιάσουν τον πατέρα της, βασιλιά της Druidia (Dick Van Patten), να αποκαλύψει τον κωδικό της αόρατης ασπίδας του πλανήτη για να κλέψουν τον αέρα του, αφού οι ίδιοι κατανάλωσαν τον δικό τους... Φυσικά ενώ στην αρχή νικάνε οι κακοί, εμφανίζεται στη συνέχεια το μοναχικό αστέρι του γαλαξία Lone Starr (Bill Poulman) μαζί με τον πιστό του φίλο Barf (John Candy) και κάνουν άνω-κάτω τα σχέδια του Προέδρου.
