Αυτά ήταν τα τελευταία λόγια που άκουσε ο μυστικός πράκτορας Michael Westen από την υπηρεσία του, και μάλιστα στη μέση μιας σημαντικής αποστολής στη Νιγηρία. Αποτάχθηκε από την υπηρεσία του δια της διαδικασίας του Burn Notice, χωρίς να ξέρει το πως και το γιατί. Όπως είναι φυσικό η υπηρεσία του αρνείται οποιαδήποτε σχέση μαζί του, του παγώνουν τους τραπεζικούς του λογαριασμούς και τον αφήνουν στο έλεος του Θεού του... Miami.

Μοναδικός σκοπός του Michael; Να ανακαλύψει ποιος και γιατί τον έκαψε, και να προσπαθήσει να ξαναπάρει πίσω την παλιά του ζωή. Στην προσπάθεια του να το καταφέρει αυτό έχει μαζί του και δύο φίλους του. Τον "συνταξιούχο" πρώην πράκτορα φίλο του Sam, και την πολεμοχαρή, (πρώην Ιρλανδικός Στρατός) αλλά και πρώην κοπέλα του, Fiona. Προκειμένου να χρηματοδοτήσει την έρευνά του o Michael, αναγκάζεται να κάνει διάφορες δουλειές, αλλά κυρίως βοηθάει ανθρώπους με προβλήματα, που δεν μπορούν να απευθυνθούν στην αστυνομία, για ένα μικρό αντίτιμο. Και σαν να μην του έφταναν όλα αυτά έχει να αντιμετωπίσει όλες τις μυστικές υπηρεσίες που τον έχουν υπό παρακολούθηση, κακοποιούς που είχε αντιμετωπίσει στο παρελθόν, αλλά και την υποχόνδρια, υπερπροστατευτική μητέρα του, που του τηλεφωνεί 30 φορές την ημέρα!!
