"Η ωραιότερη ταινία επιστημονικής φαντασίας από το χώρο του αμερικανικού λαϊκού σινεμά. Ένα φιλμ που θωπεύει τους ανθρώπινους φόβους μπροστά στο άγνωστο, είτε λέγεται υπερπέραν είτε θάνατος, και έχει ήρωες έναν άνδρα και μια γυναίκα, οι οποίοι αισθάνονται έναν παράξενο κάλεσμα, κλείνουν τα μάτια στην καθημερινότητα και αψηφούν τα πάντα, προκειμένου να βρεθούν σε έναν άγνωστο τόπο όπου ""κάτι πρόκειται να συμβεί"".Με την τρίτη του κιόλας μεγάλου μήκους ταινία, ο Σπίλμπεργκ αποδεικνύει ότι κατέχει τέλεια την τέχνη του κινηματογράφου. Σε επίπεδο ιστορίας έχουμε μια στέρεη ανέλιξη. Τυχαία γεγονότα, φαινομενικά ασύνδετα, αποκτούν νόημα όσο η υπόθεση προχωρά, ενώ άνθρωποι άγνωστοι μεταξύ τους μοιράζονται ένα κοινό όραμα. Σε επίπεδο σκηνοθεσίας συναντάμε άψογα γυρισμένες σκηνές πλήθους, γεμάτο κάδρο, εντυπωσιακές λήψεις, αλλά και όλα τα τεχνάσματα που προσδίδουν ενδιαφέρον σε μια παραγωγή: ανατ..."
