Ένας επιστήμονας, ο δρ. Ρικ Μάρσαλ (Γουίλ Φερέλ), η βοηθός του κι ένας ταξιδιωτικός συνοδός βρίσκονται ξαφνικά στην προϊστορική εποχή... Δίχως όπλα, με μόνο εφόδιο την ευφυία τους ο επιστήμονας και η παρέα του πρέπει να γλιτώσουν από τους δεινόσαυρους, αλλά κι από άλλα, πολύ επικίνδυνα φανταστικά πλάσματα και αυτό ισοδυναμεί με ευτράπελες καταστάσεις! Στο κατόπι τους οι άνθρωποι - σαύρες Sleestaks με τα τεράστια μάτια...
