Καλοκαίρι του '69 και λίγο πριν φύγουν για το Βιετνάμ δύο αδέρφια, ο Dean και ο Eric, περνούν με τις κοπέλες τους μερικές ξέγνοιαστες στιγμές. Κατά τη διάρκεια της διαδρομής πέφτουν θύματα ληστείας και εξαιτίας της καταδίωξης δε καταφέρνουν να γλιτώσουν το ατύχημα. Εκεί δεν αργεί να καταφθάσει ο σερίφης της περιοχής κ.Hoyt (R. Lee Ermey) και πριν προλάβει να... συστηθεί εκτελεί τον επίδοξο ληστή. Ο τρόμος κυριεύει τη παρέα και οι φόβοι τους σύντομα επαληθεύονται όταν συλλαμβάνονται και οδηγούνται σε ένα σπίτι που μόνο αστυνομικό τμήμα δε θυμίζει και βρίσκεται σε μία μικρή πόλη που δείχνει νεκρή και απόκοσμη. Το σπίτι αυτό ανατρέφει όμως έναν θηριώδη νεαρό που πάσχει από βαριά κληρονομική νόσο. Οι δε προθέσεις του κάθε άλλο παρά φιλικές προς τους νέους επισκέπτες είναι.
