Το Mr. Robot επικεντρώνεται σε ένα νεαρό προγραμματιστή, τον Elliot, ο οποίος πάσχει από μια εξουθενωτική αντικοινωνική διαταραχή και αποφασίζει ότι μπορεί να συνδεθεί μόνο με τους ανθρώπους χακάροντας τους. Ασκεί τις ικανότητές του ως όπλο για να προστατεύσει τους ανθρώπους που νοιάζεται και βρίσκει τον εαυτό του στο σταυροδρόμι μεταξύ μιας εταιρείας ασφάλειας του κυβερνοχώρου, στην οποία εργάζεται, και στις οργανώσεις του υποκόσμου που τον προσλαμβάνουν για να καταστρέψει την «εταιρική» Αμερική.
