Ύστερα από την αποκάλυψη της συνωμοσίας μεταξύ μερίδας βαμπίρ και λυκανθρώπων καθώς και του θανάτου του Victor από το χέρι της Selene, η όμορφη βρικόλακας καλείται να προστατέψει τον αγαπημένο της Michael. Η δύναμή του, εξαιτίας της διπλής φύσης που τη διακρίνει (μισός βαμπίρ και μισός λύκος) πρόκειται πολύ σύντομα να αποτελέσει απειλή και για τα δύο βασίλεια του σκότους. Ο Marcus, ένας από τους πρώτους και ισχυρότερους βρικόλακες, ξυπνά τυχαία από το αίμα ενός λύκου και αποκτά ίδια φύση με το Michael. Σκοπός του Marcus είναι να εδραιώσει την αμφίβολη πλέον κυριαρχία των βρικολάκων εξοντώνοντας το Michael και τη Selene που τον βοηθάει, αισθανόμενη προδομένη από τη φυλή της που αποδεικνύεται πιο σκοτεινή από όσο πίστευε.
