Ο Τσαρλς Σάιν είναι ένας πετυχημένος διαφημιστής. Οικογενειακά, τον απασχολεί το θέμα της υγείας της έφηβης κόρης τους, που πάσχει από διαβήτη. Αυτό, αναγκαστικά, έχει επιπτώσεις στο σεξ ανάμεσα στον ίδιο και την σύζυγό του, το οποίο απλά δεν... υφίσταται.Μια βροχερή μέρα χάνει το τρένο που παίρνει καθημερινά για να πάει στη δουλειά του, στο κέντρο του Σικάγο. Στο επόμενο τρένο, θα γνωριστεί με την Λουσίντα Χάρις, μία όμορφη, παντρεμένη γυναίκα, στέλεχος χρηματιστηριακής εταιρίας. Εκείνη θα τον... ξελασπώσει από μια δύσκολη στιγμή, καθώς δεν διαθέτει εισιτήριο...Το ένα πράγμα φέρνει το άλλο, ο Τσαρλς και η Λουσίντα γοητεύουν ο ένας τον άλλο και είναι ευνόητο πως σκέφτονται να... «επισφραγίσουν» τη σχέση με... σαρκική επαφή. Θα κλείσουν δωμάτιο σε ένα σκοτεινό ξενοδοχείο. Πριν προλάβουν, όμως, να... απιστήσουν, θα πέσουν θύματα ενός κακοποιού που θα τους ληστέψει, θα δείρει τον Τσαρλς ...
