1944, Ντάιες, Αρκάνσας. Ο 12χρονος Τζόνι Κας βλέπει τον αγαπημένο του αδελφό να πεθαίνει, τραυματισμένος θανάσιμα από ένα ατύχημα με πριόνι. Είναι το γεγονός που θα σημαδέψει τη ζωή του...1952, Λάντσμπεργκ, Δυτική Γερμανία. Ο Τζόνι Κας εργάζεται ως ασυρματιστής, ενώ ξεκινά να ηχογραφεί κάποιες δικές του συνθέσεις...Το 1954, επέστρεψε στις Η.Π.Α. και παντρεύτηκε τον πρώτο του μεγάλο έρωτα, τη Βίβιαν Λίμπερτο. Μετακόμισαν στο Μέμφις, όπου και ξεκίνησε τα πρώτα του βήματα στο χώρο της μουσικής, σχηματίζοντας ένα συγκρότημα μαζί με δύο μηχανικούς αυτοκινήτων, τους Μονρόε Πέρκινς και Μάρσαλ Γκραντ, που έγιναν γνωστοί ως «Tennessee Two». Ο Τζόνι προσέγγισε τον δισκογραφικό παραγωγό Σαμ Φίλιπς, που είχε την εταιρεία Sun Studios, ώστε να ακούσει την μπάντα του. Το πέτυχε το 1954, οπότε και υπέγραψαν συμβόλαιο και το όνομα της μπάντας άλλαξε σε «Johnny Cash and Tennessee Two».Θα περιοδεύσει μα...
