Δέκα χρόνια μετά τα γεγονότα της πρώτης ταινίας το δίδυμο των αρχαιολόγων επιστρέφει. Ο Rick O Connell είναι πλέον παντρεμένος με την Evelyn Carnahan και έχουν ένα 9χρονο γιο, τον Alex. Στην τελευταία τους ανασκαφή ανακαλύπτουν το βραχιόλι του θρυλικού βασιλιά Σκορπιού. Το βραχιόλι αυτό είναι το κλειδί για την ανάσταση του Σκορπιού και την κατάκτηση του κόσμου από τον στρατό του. Από ατύχημα όμως το βραχιόλι φορά ο πιτσιρικάς Alex και πρέπει πλέον να φτάσει στην χαμένη πυραμίδα του Σκορπιού για να σταματήσει η επέλαση των δυνάμεων του κακού. Σαν να μην έφτανε αυτό οι κακοί της υπόθεσης φέρνουν στην επιφάνεια το σώμα του Ιμχωτέπ. Όταν καταφέρνουν να τον φέρουν πίσω στη ζωή αρχίζει και αυτός να προσπαθεί να οικειοποιηθεί τις δυνάμεις του Σκορπιού. Θα είναι μια μάχη σκληρή και ένας αμφίρροπος αγώνας δρόμου για το ποιος θα είναι ο τελικός νικητής.
