Ο νεαρός Τόμας, χωρίς να θυμάται τίποτε από το παρελθόν του, ξυπνά σε ένα υπόγειο ασανσέρ που τον μεταφέρει σε μια περικυκλωμένη από πανύψηλα τείχη κοιλάδα. Εκεί κατοικεί μια ομάδα αγοριών η οποία προσπαθεί να επιβιώσει σαν πρωτόγονη κοινότητα. Ο Τόμας όμως ξέρει πως η ελευθερία τους βρίσκεται πίσω από τα τείχη και τον απειλητικό λαβύρινθο που τους χωρίζουν από τον έξω κόσμο.
