Ένας αμερικανός πιλότος πολεμικού αεροσκάφους θα εκτελέσει μια πτήση θανάτου κάπου στην ανατολική Ευρώπη, φωτογραφίζοντας μία εν εξελίξει γενοκτονία. Λίγο πριν την ολοκλήρωση της αποστολής του, το σκάφος του καταρρίπτεται. Η προσπάθεια επιβίωσής του μετατρέπεται σε μια πραγματική οδύσσεια, καθώς ο ήρωας έχει να αντιμετωπίσει, εκτός των εχθρικών στρατευμάτων, και έναν αδίστακτο στρατιωτικό, που θέλει πάση θυσία το απόρρητο φωτογραφικό υλικό. Πίσω στη βάση, ένας έμπειρος αξιωματικός της αμερικανικής αεροπορίας κάνει τα αδύνατα δυνατά ώστε να οργανώσει μια ομάδα διάσωσης, αδιαφορώντας για τις αλλεπάλληλες αντιρρήσεις της ηγεσίας του ΝΑΤΟ. Μια ενδιαφέρουσα πολεμική-αντιπολεμική ταινία, που αφήνει όμως τεράστια ερωτηματικά ως προς το ποιοι είναι τελικά οι καλοί και ποιοι οι κακοί. Α! Να μην ξεχάσω να πω πως ο Τζιν Χάκμαν δεν παίζεται.
