Η σειρά έχει να κάνει με ένα αστυνομικό ("Ρέυλαν Γκίβενς") ο οποίος μετά από κάποιο περιστατικό στο Μαϊάμι, μετατίθεται στην πόλη όπου μεγάλωσε. Εκεί έρχεται αντιμέτωπος με το παρελθόν του (ένα παλιό του φίλο, την πρώην γυναίκα του και πολλούς εγκληματίες). Ο συγκεκριμένος χαρακτήρας έχει δημιουργηθεί από τον νοβελίστα "Έλμορ Λέοναρντ" και ξεχωρίζει με την προσωπικότητα του. Είναι λιγομίλητος και λειτουργεί με κάποιες ηθικές. Δείχνει πάντα ήρεμος αλλά όταν πρέπει να δράσει θα το κάνει χωρίς δισταγμό. Στόχος του η δικαιοσύνη, με όποιο τρόπο και να 'ρθει.
