η Έλενα είναι το όμορφο, δημοφιλές κορίτσι του σχολείου που έχασε τους γονείς της και πλέον ζει με τον επιρρεπή σε ουσίες μικρότερο αδερφό της και την νεαρή σε ηλικία θεία της.. Παρά την τραγική της απώλεια και τον πρόσφατο χωρισμό της με τον εξίσου δημοφιλή συμμαθητή της Ματ,αρχίζει να αισθάνεται καλύτερα, όταν με την έναρξη της νέας σχολικής χρονιάς γνωρίζει τον καινούργιο,γοητευτικό συμμαθητή της,Στεφάν.

Ο Στεφάν από την άλλη,είναι βρυκόλακας και όπως είναι φυσικό,είναι 150χρονών και βάλε.Έχει όμως και οικογενειακά προβλήματα,καθώς τη δική του επιστροφή στο τόπο του, ακολούθησε και ο αδερφός του Ντέιμον, που όμως δεν έχει σε καμία περίπτωση τις αγνές προθέσεις του Στεφάν.Και οι δύο αρχίζουν να επικεντρώνουν το ενδιαφέρον τους στην Έλενα, με κίνδυνο μία ιστορία του παρελθόντος να επαναληφθεί.
