Ο Porter (Mel Gibson) ληστής και μικροαπατεώνας με πλούσια ταλέντα, βρίσκεται σχεδόν νεκρός και αβοήθητος, ύστερα από την θετική έκβαση μιας απόπειρας ληστείας που πραγματοποίησε σε συνεργασία με τη γυναίκα του και τον φίλο του Val (Gregg Henry)! Oι δύο συνεργοί του, έχοντας συνωμοτήσει εναντίον του, παίρνουν το μερίδιό του και τον εγκαταλείπουν θεωρώντας βέβαιο το θάνατό του. O Porter όμως μετά την περιπέτειά του, που τον κρατάει μακριά από τα πράγματα για κάποιους μήνες, επιστρέφει ζητώντας εκδίκηση και ό,τι του ανήκει από εκείνη τη ληστεία.
