Ένας βετεράνος παρουσιαστής ειδήσεων της παλιάς σχολής, ο Μάικ Πόμεροϊ, έχει αποφασίσει να εγκαταλείψει την ενεργό δράση και να αποσυρθεί, αηδιασμένος από τη νέα, κίτρινη τάξη πραγμάτων στην τηλεόραση, που δεν προσιδιάζει στο ήθος του. Μια φιλόδοξη νεαρή παραγωγός, η Μπέκι Φούλερ, όμως, κάνει τα αδύνατα δυνατά για να τον φέρει πίσω στα πράγματα σε μια ύστατη προσπάθεια να σώσει το πρωινό μαγκαζίνο του καναλιού όπου εργάζεται, το οποίο πάει από το κακό στο χειρότερο. Και το χειρότερο όλων; Ο Πόμεροϊ θα κληθεί να αναλάβει τη θέση συμπαρουσιαστή στο πρωινό μαγκαζίνο που μέχρι πρότινος παρουσίαζε μόνη η άσπονδη εχθρός του, που δεν είναι άλλη από την Κολίν Πεκ.
