Ο Eddie Edwards (Taron Egerton) ήταν ο πρώτος αθλητής που εκπροσώπησε τη Μεγάλη Βρετανία στο άλμα με σκι, στους Ολυμπιακούς του Κάλγκαρι το 1988. Ο Michael εργάζονταν ως σοβατζής για να ζήσει και για να καταφέρει το όνειρό του να φτάσει στους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες έπρεπε να υπερπηδήσει μια σειρά από εμπόδια. Το βάρος του, την έλλειψη εξοπλισμού και εκπαίδευσης, την προβληματική του όραση και την… υψοφοβία του. Οι απόπειρές του στους αγώνες ήταν σχεδόν πάντα καταστροφικές και η τελευταία θέση του άνηκε δικαιωματικά. Όμως η μόνιμη καλή του διάθεση και η αποφασιστικότητά του κέρδισαν τους φίλους του αθλήματος σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο. Κάπως έτσι ο «Eddie» έγινε σύμβολο πια της επιμονής και του αλύγιστου ανθρωπίνου πνεύματος.
