Ο 39χρονός πλέον Cristian Mungiu, με αυτή την τετράμηνη και κάτι κυοφορία καταφέρνει να φτιάξει μια αξιομνημόνευτη ταινία. Η αναγνώριση ήρθε άμεσα, από τις λίγες φορές που ταινία ανάλογου δυναμικού δεν πέφτει θύμα κριτικού εγκλήματος, με την βράβευση της στον βασιλιά των φεστιβάλ, στις Κάννες! Ο πολυτάλαντος Christian μετά από αξιοπρόσεκτες δουλειές μικρού μήκους στο παρελθόν, αλλά και το κωμικό Occident, κάνει μια ταινία που σπάει τα Ρουμανικά σύνορα. Μια ταινία για την χώρα του, μέσα από την αναλυτική πολιτικοκοινωνική ματιά του δημιουργού!
