ΤΟ «ΚΑΤΑΣΚΟΠΕΥΤΙΚΟ» Μη Επανδρωμένο Αεροσκάφος(UAV) «Πήγασος ΙΙ», που κατασκευάστηκε από τους τεχνικούς της Πολεμικής Αεροπορίας και πρόσφατα πέρασε επιτυχώς τις επιχειρησιακές δοκιμασίες (στην άσκηση «Ηνίοχος»), αναμένεται να ενταχθεί δοκιμαστικά φέτος στα σχέδια πυροπροστασίας των δασών από τη Γενική Γραμματεία Πολιτικής Προστασίας και το Πυροσβεστικό Σώμα.
Παρόμοια τεχνική εφήρμοσαν πέρσι και οι Αμερικανοί στις μεγάλες πυρκαγιές της Καλιφόρνιας, όπου χρησιμοποιήθηκαν, ειδικά διαμορφωμένα από τη NASA, τα UAV Predator 2. Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι στις 9 Μαΐου η Πυροσβεστική υπέγραψε συμφωνία συνεργασίας με τη Δασική Υπηρεσία των ΗΠΑ -από αμερικανικής πλευράς τη συμφωνία υπέγραψε ο διευθυντής Εναέριων Μέσων και Διαχείρισης Δασικών Πυρκαγιών της Υπηρεσίας κος Τομ Χάρμπουρ.
Η συμφωνία προβλέπει σεμινάρια, εκπαιδεύσεις (στην Ελλάδα και στις ΗΠΑ), ανταλλαγή πληροφοριών και τεχνογνωσίας, τεχνικών εναέριου συντονισμού, επίγειων τακτικών, συστημάτων άμεσων επεμβάσεων κ.ά.
