Η Τρου είναι μια ανεξάρτητη κοπέλα που καταφέρνει να αποφοιτήσει από το κολέγιο, παρά τις αντιξοότητες που αντιμετώπισε στη νεαρή ζωή της. Χάνοντας τη μητέρα της στην τρυφερή ηλικία των 12 ετών, η Τρου και τα αδέλφια της αναγκάστηκαν να τα βγάλουν πέρα μόνοι, όταν ο πατέρας τους εγκατέλειψε την οικογενειακή εστία.

Η Τρου ονειρεύεται να γίνει γιατρός, αλλά ενώ προσβλέπει στη μαθητεία της σε κάποιο νοσοκομείο, της ανατίθεται μια θέση στο νεκροτομείο της πόλης! Από το πρώτο της κιόλας βράδυ εκεί, συμβαίνει κάτι που δεν μπορεί να χωρέσει ούτε η πιο τρελή φαντασία: το πτώμα μιας όμορφης γυναίκας ανοίγει τα μάτια, της μιλά και ζητά τη βοήθειά της.
